Daniel Bates Local McClellanville Realtor

My name is Daniel Bates and I started this website because I wanted to give people thinking about moving to McClellanville a better understanding of what the area is like. McClellanville is not like anywhere else in the world that I have encountered. Life here is slower and more relaxed. It’s not for everyone, and I’m not afraid to say that, because some people can’t adjust to “less is more” type of lifestyle here. Those people that do enjoy McClellanville and choose to move here will tell you that they wouldn’t live anywhere else in the world. I also hope that people who are currently living here, whether it be life-long residents or people that have recently moved, enjoy the information presented in this blog.

I am a native of McClellanville. As a child, I grew up in Silver Hill and Skipper’s Point, playing in the woods and Jeremy Creek. I attended Archibald Rutledge Academy from Kindergarten to 12th grade. I went to Appalachian State University and served as a police officer in Rock Hill, SC for four years. Law Enforcement was an incredibly rewarding experience, but when the opportunity became available for me to move back to the Lowcountry and work for the real estate company my grandfather founded, I jumped at it.

Real estate has always been in my blood and I love the satisfaction I get when helping someone else find a home in the town I love so dearly. I’m married and have one boy and I enjoy nature, fishing, the beach, and writing.

I am the owner and Broker-in-Charge of MCVL Realty, which offers full real estate sales and rental management services.  I’d tell you that I’m trustworthy, but Id rather prove it to you. My time in law enforcement has given me a calm, level-headed approach to real estate. I am a family-man and a Christian and it wasn’t too long ago that I bought my first home, so I can relate to all those worries and concerns. I promise to make your best interest my primary concern.

I specialize in the McClellanville and Awendaw markets. This area, lying between Georgetown and Mt. Pleasant, SC is mostly rural and surrounded by Federally protected forest and coastal region, which makes it a different kind of market than anywhere else. If you are considering buying or selling a home in the McClellanville or Awendaw area, be sure you have a local Realtor to help you in the process. I hope you enjoy this site and when the time comes that you want to buy or sell you home, please feel free to give me a call, Sincerely Daniel Bates.

    Daniel,
Thank you again for your help in our lot purchase. While we had a good idea of what we wanted and where we wanted to be, it was great to have your local knowledge to help us make up our minds. Also, with us being hundreds of miles away, you were a life saver in helping with the septic permit and the other various aspects of closing preparation.

    Best Wishes,
    Corey & Alice Grey Harrison

    Daniel,
Along with new Dollar General being built in the Town, rumor has it that a supermarket is also in the plans. Can you provide any information on this?

I haven't heard any recent rumors, but several of the chains do population studies every couple of years and I'm sure as soon as it makes good business sense that they will be welcomed by most. There is basically a lot reserved for such a business in the highway commercial zone, not that they have to take it but it would provide pedestrian access without having to travel on the highway. If I had to guess I'd say it'll probably be another 5 years if McClellanville continues the slow but steady growth that it has been experiencing.

    Continued…(sorry)

(Also, I would like to add that I posted the very contentious comment a few years ago regarding the marketing of the town from a real estate perspective. I was young and naive at the time and afraid of change. Since that time, I have learned that economic growth is vital to community preservation/wellbeing and, as a result, support the efforts of this website.)

    That was my two cents…
    Stay beautiful MCVL…

Hi Ninja, you're quite mysterious. I think I'll try to find time to bring this subject in to the light in a full article, but first I want to thank you for supporting my website. I truly do care about the community and despite being a real estate agent, do think that I can bring positive change to McClellanville without it losing what gives it it's unique character. We've all been trained to resist change and see it as evil, but all things must change and the task at hand is to shape that change into something good. McClellanville's economy would receive a big boost with proper healthcare, jobs, and education, but that doesn't mean we have to have a giant hospital and factory in our back yard. Just as the Dollar General is a good compromise for a grocery store, so are there compromises for these other things.
